Iron Maiden & West Ham United announce collaboration
EAST END LEGENDS IRON MAIDEN & WEST HAM UNITED UNVEIL FOOTBALL KIT COLLABORATION
Die With Your Boots On is the name of a unique collaboration between Iron Maiden and West Ham United. Named after the 1983 song of the same name and driven by die-hard West Ham fan and founder member of the band Steve Harris, this partnership brings together two institutions with shared origins in London’s East End.
Harris has been flying the flag for West Ham on stage for decades, with his bass guitar even featuring the club’s iconic logo. His love for the Hammers goes back to 1965, as he recollects, “I went to see West Ham play against Newcastle when I was 9 and my mate was 10. We jumped on a bus and went to the game, and they won 4-3 and that was it. I was hooked!”
Many Maiden fans around the world have embraced Harris’ passion for West Ham and taken up support for the club themselves, often appearing at concerts in Hammers apparel. Steve added, “When I’m up there playing and I see fans in the audience wearing West Ham stuff it gives me goosebumps.”
Tracey Stratton, Licensing Manager at West Ham, was aware of the phenomenon. “One weekend last summer our club shop was inundated with rock fans from all across the globe, and we realised that Iron Maiden were playing two sold out shows at the O2. It makes perfect sense to launch this collaboration, and with Steve’s passion for it and attention to detail it has been amazing.”
Harris is very proud of the tie up with West Ham and was deeply involved in the design process, commenting, “I think it’s brilliant. I really love that version and colour of the crest, and that old classic kind of kit. It’s a modern shape but with a retro design, and I like that. Up the Irons!”
A full home kit will be available to fans around the world, who can now show their love for both institutions with one unique homage to the Irons. Steve launched the kit with West Ham and Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta, who added, “Iron Maiden are a huge icon back home in South America and it’s great for fans of West Ham and the band to be able to show their support for both!”
The kit is available to order now from maiden.store/whu and www.officialwesthamstore.com. A limited number of shirts will also be made available in the West Ham store at the London Stadium upon release.

False Advertising Tackle The Ad Industry In ‘Honest’ Video
Manchester-based trio False Advertising are pleased to reveal another brilliant DIY video for their new single ‘Honest’, out now on all digital platforms.
Additional UK tour dates and festival appearances have also been revealed throughout Summer/Autumn 2017 – see below for details.
Watch the ‘Honest’ video here: https://youtu.be/
In the new visuals the band poke fun at Hillary Clinton’s overly presumptuous election campaign, sip ‘Diet Woke’ in a nod to Kendall Jenner’s flawed Pepsi Ad, showcase realistic looking fast food, hawk free money and showcase a potentially flawed music festival for privileged millennials in a shrewd look at modern advertising techniques.
“We all love to hate advertising,” say the band “but the truth is that it persuades people every day to do all sorts of crazy stuff, like buying things they can’t afford, or doing things that are probably not actually very good or ethical.
“As much as we’d love to use these clever brainwashing techniques to trick you into buying our music, our new video instead sees us sit down to watch a very ‘real’ advert break. Real, in the sense that every advert is designed to cut through the typical smokescreen created by advertising, by focusing on the flaw in the message. You can almost always find that flaw if you look for it.”
The trio recently launched ’False Advertising TV’ across their social media channels, which they used to debut the track live through four bespoke “False” Adverts, conceived and shot by the band themselves.
‘Honest’ is the second in a run of standalone releases the band are putting out throughout 2017 and builds on their caustic, fuzz-drenched approach to alternative rock, continuing a year which has already seen the DIY band showcase at Texas’ SXSW Festival, featured in NME magazine and get their first BBC Radio 1 play.
Upcoming live dates:
8th July – The Ferret, Preston
23rd July – Blackthorn Festival
5th August – Humber Street Sesh Festival, Hull
15th September – Head For The Hills Festival
22nd September – John Peel Centre, Stowmarket
23rd September – The Owl Sanctuary, Norwich
28th September – The Old Blue Last, London
29th September – Green Door Store, Brighton
13th October – Empty Shop, Durham
14th October – Little Buildings, Newcastle
15th October – Independent, Sunderland

Fire In The Radio premiere “New Air” video
Philadelphia-based Fire in the Radio will release their sophomore album New Air on 16th June via Wednesday Records. The album is the follow-up to their 2015 acclaimed record Telemetry and can be pre-ordered now at Bandcamp. Today the band revealed the official video for “New Air” from the upcoming release. The video premiered at Pure Volume and can also be shared at YouTube.
Speaking about the video the band says: “’New Air’ was written as a response to the current divisive climate in our country.” They add, “It’s told from the view of two people struggling to find a way forward in an untenable relationship. As we were conceptualizing the video we wanted something that embodied these concepts. The director, Adam Peditto, helped us settle on the idea that using color would be a unique and compelling way to express this narrative. Thus, throughout the video you see a juxtaposition of red, blue and purple underlying the story of the two main characters. It gives the video this film noir-type quality. Adam and his team beautifully shot these images over two winter days in Philadelphia that included dramatic temperature shifts, strong winds and (as the video depicts) a fairly significant thunder and lighting storm. The result is video that is reflective and haunting, yet hopeful, and perfectly captures what we were trying to convey.”
Last month Washed Up Emo premiered “Drug Life” from New Air and the track is available to stream and share via SoundCloud. The band is also revealed an album trailer featuring clips from several songs from New Air. The trailer was was shot by Adam Peditto (Cayetana, Thin Lips, The Superweaks) and is available to share at YouTube.
New Air was recorded with Steve Poponi at Gradwell House studios (Beach Slang, Into It. Over It.) with additional engineering by Angus Cooke. The record was mixed by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung) and mastered by Alan Douches. Fire in the Radio began work on New Air following significant touring in support of 2015’s Telemetry, which included performances at Gainesville, Florida’s FEST and Montreal’s Pouzza Fest.
“We could have recorded a ten-song album, but that would have required us to put three shit songs on it which we simply refuse to do,” the band says. Few quotes more accurately sum up Fire in the Radio’s focused self-edited approach to song-writing, which is on full display on their most recent seven-song album New Air. As the title suggests, New Air finds the band pushing their unique brand of up-tempo indie-punk in a fresh direction incorporating elements of new wave, grunge, and shoegaze drone into tightly crafted pop songs.
From the driving beat and haunting oohs on the album’s opener and title track, to the head nodding rock anthem “Drug Life”; each of the songs on New Air reveal themselves in stark and immediate ways without meandering. Even on the album’s mid-tempo closer, “Holy Shit,” the pace and delivery of singer Rich Carbone’s vocals remain frenetic. And though Carbone hints at subtlety as he sings “carved your name on the wall, it’s buried in white, a ship for all seasons,” it’s all just a set up for the album’s blistering closing chorus replete with overlapping vocal and guitar lines.

Darko Reveal ‘Just A Short Line’ Video + EU Tour Dates
Guildford skate-punks DARKO are pleased to reveal a new video for ‘Just A Short Line’ – the latest track to be taken from their critically acclaimed debut album Bonsai Mammoth which is out now on Bird Attack Records (US) and Lockjaw Records (UK).
“For this video we hooked up with our buddy and director Claudio Stanghellini whose been working a lot with Bird Attack Records over the last couple of years” comments vocalist Dan Smith “We sent him the track and he came back with a couple of different scripted ideas that were based around his interpretation of the song and we picked the version we felt suited the best.
“One of the things I am pretty big on when I write is that people take their own interpretations of the lyrics and that then becomes theirs. So while the video doesn’t represent my exact meaning of the song, we now have an artistic collaboration which gives the song a whole different dimension and adds to the whole aesthetic of the creation!”
The band have also just revealed a huge run of summer 2017 dates with Swedish punks Rebuke, taking in shows across mainland Europe in countries including Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Czech Republic.
With musical salutes to riff-thrashers like Protest The Hero, straight-up skate punk legends Strung Out and the melodic hardcore of Comeback Kid, Bonsai Mammoth delivers wholeheartedly and shows a real progression to the band’s sound, a continuation of a journey this band of DIY brothers are only just beginning.

Hundredth announce new album ‘RARE’
South Carolina’s Hundredth have announced the impending release of their daring new album, ‘RARE’, due out June 16th via Hopeless Records. To celebrate the announcement and give listeners a taste of their exciting new direction, Hundredth have shared their new single, ‘Neurotic‘, and its accompanying music video.
Hundredth have always followed their own path, forging a dedicated fanbase with their unique and impassioned approach to heavy music across three full lengths, culminating with 2015’s ‘Free’, the band’s definitive statement within the hardcore genre. When it came time to write a new album Hundredth began to feel the walls of their sound and scene tightening around them. The band had nothing left to give hardcore and the time had come to evolve or end. Faced with this challenge Hundredth chose to do what they do best: be themselves, no matter what that sounds like.
Finally feeling completely unhindered creatively, Hundredth dove headfirst into reinvention. The result is ‘RARE’, a fearless album of lushly dense shoegaze and post-punk that somehow maintains Hundredth‘s innate energy and heaviness. ‘RARE’ is a bold statement of newfound purpose, from it’s shimmering and gritty guitars, crisp and driving drums, to it’s moody atmospherics and reverb-drenched vocals, this is Hundredth melding their instincts and influences into a sound that is all their own.
Watch the ‘Neurotic’ music video via YouTube: http://smarturl.it/
Stream ‘Neurotic’ via Spotify: http://smarturl.it/
Physical and digital preorders for ‘RARE’ are available now. Hundredth will be supporting ‘RARE’ all summer long on Warped Tour in the US with more tour dates to be announced soon.

Susie Blue releases ‘Be A Lady’ video
Irish indie-rock band Susie Blue have just released a feel-good video to accompany their brand new single ‘Be A Lady’. It features a group of young and carefree children enjoying their time together, mimicking and dressing up the band. WATCH HERE
As with their previous single ‘People Like Us’ it celebrates queer issues and challenges homophobia and gender stereotypes.
Lead singer and founder of the band Susan Donaghy tells Dork Magazine, “I love the innocence kids have and that most of the time they just be who they are without thinking about it. I want us to take some lessons from them and that’s what I wanted to show with this video”.
Within the beaming indie rock and pop sound there is a strong message of acceptance and equality. Susan’s expressive lyrics stand against judgement and reach out to anyone who has ever felt rejected by society and inspires them to be proud of who they are.
The band’s spirit imbues their live performance and they recently supported the likes of The Strypes and Glen Hansard as well as appearing at festivals including Whelan’s One To Watch Festival, Output Festival, Swell Festival and Maritime Festival.
Last month the band performed in England for the very first time, playing a St. Patrick’s Day special at Camden’s Dublin Castle, with a date at Clapham’s Bread And Roses the following night.
Working hard as an independent band and putting their heart and soul into everything they do, Susie Blue are reflective of a young generation of musical activists in a big world full of adversity.

Japan’s Tricot Share ‘Melon Soda’
Japanese alternative-rock band tricot are pleased to share their new single following it’s premiere with NPR today.
‘Melon Soda’ is the entrancing new single from their third album entitled 3 and set for release on 17th May 2017 on Topshelf Records (US), Big Scary Monsters (UK) and Bakuretsu (JP).
Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/
The band will be appearing at ArcTanGent Festival in Bristol on 17th – 19th August with further UK live dates TBA.
Formed in the historical and culturally rich city of Kyoto, Japan in 2010, the three-piece have gained a steadily-growing following with their high-energy live shows throughout Asia, Europe and North America over the past few years, recently supporting The Pixies in the UK. In March 2016 their third tour of Europe took in 21 shows across 12 countries on a schedule jammed with sold-out dates.
Singing in their native Japanese and utilizing unpredictable song transitions, melodic post-rock-inspired sounds and jazz-influenced instrumental breaks, tricot are an enticing prospect for avant-garde music fans and are renowned for their vibrant and intense live performances.
They’ve drawn on a wide variety of rock scenes, from slow-burning American post-rock to bustling Fukuoka’s frantic indie-rock, to create guitar-centric songs that constantly pivot in new directions, and their first two full-length albums, 2013’s T H E and 2015’s A N D, crashed into their home nation’s music charts.
With their current line-up featuring founding members Ikkyu Nakajima (vocals / guitar), Motoko “Motifour” Kida (guitar / backing vocals), and Hiromi “Hirohiro” Sagane (bass / backing vocals), tricot’s unusual and distinctive sound harmonizes pop sensibilities and emotional vocals with complex rhythms and time-signatures that fans of Battles, Speedy Ortiz and Don Caballero should fall instantly in love with.

Chicago’s BELMONT Premiering New Single
Chicago pop-punks BELMONT have debuted a new single titled “Water Weight.”
“Water Weight” was recorded/mixed by Seth Henderson at ABG Studios and was produced by Dave Knox of Real Friends.
Stream the track on the Dreambound Youtube channel.
Guitarist Sam Patt says, “This song was new for us because the writing approach was way different. We tried to switch things up a bit while staying true to ourselves, we took a more collaborative approach to this song, and adding Dave Knox’s influence pushed the song to new boundaries for us.
The lyrics hold personal meaning too; dealing with the passing of a loved one before you’re personally ready is so difficult because life doesn’t wait for you to be emotionally ready. It makes you take a step back and reevaluate what’s important in your life, who and what you hold dear.”
“Water Weight” is also now available digitally on:

LEMURIA announce ‘Get Better’ 10 Year Anniversary UK & Ireland Tour
As 2017 marks the tenth anniversary of Lemuria’s debut album, ‘Get Better’, the Buffalo indie-punk trio have announced a tour of the UK and Ireland in July to celebrate the record. They’ll be playing ‘Get Better’ in its entirety at each of the nine dates, as well as a carefully-picked selection of compositions that span their time together as a band. Tickets on sale Friday at 10am.
‘Get Better’ and Lemuria’s discography as a whole have lit the way for many a contemporary emo, punk, alt or indie entity.
Shortly prior to the album’s creation, drummer/vocalist Alex Kerns lost his father and explains that “after a funeral fiasco and during a climax of grief, we began writing our first album ‘Get Better’. An album title with a few meanings to me, but mostly it was elemental for me to simply get better… I wrote it on my snare and two tom drums. GET BET TER. An imaginary coach to remind me to move forward and never let myself be finished with the craft.
I’ve been revisiting the album hearing a decade old reflection of myself talking back to me with monumental indifference. I remember that me. I’m still that me sometimes, just not so hard panned. I was so different then, and I’ll be so different again. Listening back I find a sanctuary, a place where nothing is permanent, where feelings are tempered with time and glass becomes sand…
Now that you know the setting, it may give some of the lyrics more clarity. Themes rooted in stress and clouded with numbness simultaneously. Time might not expire the feelings the decade old songs document, but it provides proof of your ability to pivot.”
‘Get Better’ will also be getting a UK anniversary reissue. Stay tuned for details on the release.

“The song is about unpacking difficult memories trapped inside of a shaken bottle; I open the cap and brace myself to see what happens,” explains singer/guitarist Jade Payne. “I was carrying a bunch of emotional baggage with past relationships that I hadn’t quite dealt with or figured out how to heal from.”
Starting in April, the band will also embark on a full US tour.
Formed in 2010, Aye Nako is a queer punk band comprised of four weirdos that write disorienting, but highly melodic punk songs while carving out a space to co-exist in the fold between art, music, and politics. FLOGGING MOLLY – NEW ALBUM LIFE IS GOOD OUT JUNE 2ND
FLOGGING MOLLY’s long awaited new album LIFE IS GOOD will be released on June 2nd via Spinefarm/Vanguard Records.

Formed by theOGM (Jean) & Yeti Bones (Eaddy), Ho99o9 is an amalgamation of punk, rap, militancy, industrial, metal and hardcore creating what they describe as Deathkult.

False Advertising Reveal ‘Not My Fault’ Video
FALSE ADVERTISING are pleased to reveal the video for their new single ‘Not My Fault’ following a triumphant week at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas and looking ahead to a run of festival appearances over the coming months – full dates below.
Released 31st March 2017, you can watch and share the video for the single here: https://www.youtube.com/
The single has picked up support from Huw Stephens at BBCR1, John Kennedy at Radio X as his Exposure Hot One, and Amazing Radio, with spins from many more specialist shows. The track is the first in a run of standalone releases that the band plan to drop throughout the first half of this year, building on their caustic, fuzz-drenched approach to alternative rock carrying echoes of underground ‘90s champions Cave In, Hundred Reasons, Idlewild and Garbage.
Explaining the concept for the video, the band say: “We basically just wanted to be selfish and have a great day, so we went and spent loads of money on arcade machines, grilled cheese and alcohol. The song is about being semi-oblivious and detached from the crazy political landscape that we reside within these days, so we thought fuck it, let’s be oblivious and do whatever the hell we want to bring it to life.”
“We filmed, directed and edited it ourselves as we do with the majority of our music, artwork and videos. You can tell this because there is only one shot when all three of us are in it together, which we got Chris’s girlfriend Urszula to shoot for us.”
‘Not My Fault’ was recorded across various sessions at The Northbourne Centre in Didcot, Oxfordshire, as well as Marlboro House and the band’s own house in Manchester. It was engineered by Sam Jones and Chris Warr, produced by Sam Jones and False Advertising, and mixed by Sam Jones.
13th April – The Chapel, Leeds
14th April – Wales Goes Pop Festival
15th April – Stockton Calling Festival
22nd April – Wrong Festival, Liverpool

Gun Shy – whilst you execute /~/ in perfect silence
Forged in the depths of the outermost reaches of existence itself, Gun Shy was first uncovered taking temporary residence in Southampton in January of the Earth year, ‘2016’ before announcing ‘First Transmission,’ which was released in May via Failure By Design Records – a 5 song audio transmission that drew influence from genres ranging from post-punk and doom to post rock. Gun Shy asks its followers to remain vigilant and to keep watching the skies.
Gun Shy’s new EP; ‘The Long Dance’ is due for release on Earth date ‘May 12th, 2017’ via Southampton’s very own Wrong Way Round Records on both cassette and digital formats.
Recorded mixed and mastered live at The Ranch Production House by Lewis Johns.
Watch the video for Whilst You Execute and In Perfect Silence:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?
“The reason we chose to do a double video was for two reasons; creatively it was a challenge and if you don’t challenge yourself as an artist, then you won’t ever improve, and maybe even lose the joy of doing it altogether. It is also something none of us had ever had the chance to do in previous projects, and with the ethos of Gun Shy being what it is, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.
The other reason for choosing to do a double video is as an attempt to combat something that streaming has brought with it; the ability to shuffle a record. We created this record to be cohesive and for the tracks to flow – to become an entity as a whole. The double video, the double single, all allow us to present the tracks as they should be listened to, to give them the desired impact and effect”

Faintest Idea Turn The Tables On Rich Elites In ‘Ouroboros’ Video
Kings Lynn ska-punk outfit, Faintest Idea, are pleased to reveal a new video for ‘Ouroboros’, the final piece in a trio of feature videos that make up a short film detailing the socio-political issues faced in the UK as a result of the current Conservative government.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2FGr8Q2YBY
Faintest Idea have also announced a run of UK/EU headline dates and festival appearances for spring/summer with details below.
In the final episode of the three-part series, our plucky banker who featured in the first two videos has the tables turned on him as he’s dressed in The Hunt’s traditional red regalia, and chased through woodland by the band (donning fox masks) in a delicious reversal of roles.
This latest track from the rudeboy street punks is the final single to be taken from their critically acclaimed 2016 album ‘Increasing The Minimum Rage’ released via Manchester-based punk and ska label TNSrecords last year.
Commenting on the video, the band say: “This is the 3rd and final part in our series of music videos from the album. The series itself looks at power relations and the repercussions of political actions and the cycles they can cause, which tie in to the lyrics of this final song ‘Ouroboros’: Trickle down’s siphoned off from the community / Scorched earth tactic of big industry / While ones halves eaten / The other half eats / And the cycle repeats. Thanks to Jamie and Pete for shooting and acting in all three.”
Faintest Idea 2017 Live Dates:
01.04.17 – The Boar’s Head – Kidderminster – UK
20-22.04.17 – Manchester Punk Fest – Manchester – UK

Empty Lungs Share ‘Losing It. Finding It’ Video
Off the back of their successful recent string of dates, Belfast-based Indie/Punks, Empty Lungs, have shared the new video for ‘Losing It. Finding It’ and announced further tour dates for this Spring.
Check it out here: https://youtu.be/m2Szz4-
“This was filmed in October 2016 during a short East Coast U.S. tour on our way down to play FEST,” says guitarist, Kev Jones.
“It mostly features us getting sweaty onstage, drinking beers and smoking cigarettes. We had such a great tour, caught up with loads of friends and met so many amazing new people. It’s actually a real contrast to the theme of self-doubt in the song but that was intentional. We wanted to show the positives outweigh the negatives and getting to travel halfway around the world with your best friends to play music is a pretty special thing.”
Catch Empty Lungs on tour:
1st April- Belfast, The Barge (NI)
7th April- Limerick, The Loft (IE)
21st April- Ballina, Emmets (IE)
17th June- Hamburg, Booze Cruise Festival (DE)
23rd June- Bradford, 1 in 12 Club (UK)
24th June- Leeds, The Grove Inn (UK)
25th June- Manchester, 0161 Festival (UK)
26th June- Edinburgh, Bannermans (UK)
27th June- Glasgow, Bloc (UK)
29th June- Derby, Hairy Dog (UK)
‘Losing It. Finding It’ is taken from the new EP, ‘Don’t Get It’ which is out now through Hidden Pony Records.
Managing to capture the angst and protest spirit of punk rock and blend it with hooks and melody more akin to the indie rock and powerpop of the 90’s, Empty Lungs have an energy and determination second to none. Then again, when you grow up in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the tail end of a bitter and divisive 35-year conflict, grit and determination to create something positive and unique are instilled in you.
This determination has seen Empty Lungs become the first European artist to sign with Canadian based label Hidden Pony Records.
‘Don’t Get It’ was recorded by long time friend Rocky O’Reilly (And So I Watch You From Afar, Oppenheimer) at Start Together Studios, Belfast. The first 2 tracks were mixed by Gus Van Go and Werner F (Said The Whale, Wintersleep) and the 3rd by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung).
Having been formed in late 2011 by Jones, Empty Lungs have released a string of EP’s, singles and 7 inches, all receiving support and airplay from BBC RADIO 1 and BBC RADIO ULSTER.
Things have been far from straight forward for Empty Lungs. As well as the usual struggles of losing members, losing jobs and facing the financial strain of DIY touring there have been some more unusual setbacks. In 2013, Kev Jones found himself climbing out of a 2nd-floor window in the midst of a house fire that (after nearly killing him) left him homeless 2 weeks before the band’s first European tour. Cancelling was never an option and during that tour a bond was forged between members Mykie Rowan (Drums/Vocals), Conor Langan (Bass Vocals) and Kev Jones and the determination to put every drop of energy into doing what they love was bolstered.
Not letting the geographical hindrance of living on a small Island on the edge of Europe stop them, Empty Lungs have toured consistently since their formation. Having hit the DIY circuits in UK, Europe and US the band have managed to share the stage with a host of acts along the way including Japandroids, Alkaline Trio, The Subways and many more. 2014 saw Empty Lungs be the first ever Irish band to play THE FEST in Gainesville, Florida and have since returned 3 years in a row, touring the east coast several times in the process.
‘Don’t Get It’ is out now through Hidden Pony Records on 7 inch vinyl and digital download through all usual retailers

See Through Dresses – Announce New Album Out June 2017 on Tiny Engines
See Through Dresses released its Tiny Engines debut End of Days in the Fall of 2015, introducing a wider audience to a sound both intrinsic and environmental, with stark contrasts between its principal songwriters’ devastatingly riff-heavy jams and endearingly honest confessionals. It showcased what the band can do in spaces where guitars and rhythms rule the roost.
If End of Days is its rock record, Horse of the Other World, out June 30th, is See Through Dresses’ dreamy opus. Recorded in 2016 in two locations — ARC Studios with Ben Brodin (Pile, First Aid Kit, The Good Life) and at the band’s home studio, Little Machine, by Mathew Carroll — it signals a sonic leap into a more ethereal, soundscape-driven aesthetic.
Reverb-drenched and synth-laden, Horse of the Other World blends Carroll and Bertuldo’s masterful mood creation and technical prowess while further exploring the depths of the band’s dynamics. “Pretty Police” mixes sparkle and bounce with brood, while “Violet” cuts sharply via crystalline keys and arpeggiated chords. Bassist Alex Kirts pumps the album’s bleeding heart and drummer Nate Van Fleet is tactical and creative. Their playing shines as the foundation of songs like “Lucy’s Arm” and “Herbivore,” whose climaxes are textbook See Through Dresses.
Bursting onto the Omaha scene with its 2014 Self-Titled debut, See Through Dresses continues to gain international traction. The band has toured the U.S. several times over and made trips through Canada and Europe. It has recently shared the road with Cursive, Beach Slang, Cymbals Eat Guitars and will head out with Charly Bliss this Summer.

Bear Trade release new song & video ‘As Long As We Have Tea’
Bear Trade, hailing from the North East of England, have revealed the latest song from forthcoming album ‘Silent Unspeakable’. The quintessentially English title of ‘As Long As We Have Tea’ references the song’s theme. It’s an uplifting and heartwarming love song from vocalist/guitarist Greg Robson to his wife.

‘Silent Unspeakable’ is another personal affair (following on from the band’s debut ‘Blood & Sand’) comprising songs written from the heart and from Robson’s personal experiences, a commentary on life. The album was recorded at Suburban Home Studios in Leeds, with Matt Johnson from Hookworms. It was recorded over two weekends in Autumn 2016. Some of the songs were written three years ago and some we finished while we were recording them.

Ratboys (Topshelf Records) announce new album “GN”
Chicago’s Ratboys, led by singer/guitarist Julia Steiner and guitarist Dave Sagan, will release its sophomore album entitled GN on June 30th (Topshelf Records). Drawing influence from the down-to-earth sincerity of late-90s Sheryl Crow and the confessional confidence of Kim Deal and Jenny Lewis, the songs on GN (aka ‘goodnight’) “largely detail experiences of saying goodbye, finding your way home, and then figuring out what the hell to do once you’re back,” says Steiner. The Fader, who premiered the album’s first single, “Control” says “the song is a perfect example of the special, personal nature of their music.”
LISTEN TO “CONTROL” HERE:
https://soundcloud.com/
GN offers a bevy of tales, laments and triumphs, which recount near-tragedies by the train tracks, crippling episodes of loneliness, remembrances of a deceased family pet with freezer burn, and on and on. The songs shift and breathe as worlds all their own, tied together by the group’s self-proclaimed ‘post-country’ sound, which combines moments of distortion and a DIY aesthetic with a devotion to simple songwriting and ties to the Americana sounds of years past.
The songs chosen to close both sides of the record – the slow-burning “Crying About the Planets’” and quizzical “Peter the Wild Boy” – unpack the respective journeys of two real people who were quite literally lost and found. “”Crying” tells the survival story of Antarctic explorer Douglas Mawson from a first-person perspective, and “Peter” reflects on the life of a feral child in Germany who was eventually adopted by the King of England,” according to Steiner.
Certain personal stories – the tour adventures recapped in “GM,” the struggle to learn to show affection as divulged in “Molly” – find Ratboys just as eagerly exploring subject matter that comes from within, and then illustrating the highs and lows with soaring hooks and plaintive ones. Even in the moments that lie somewhere between bliss and misery, a tension persists between Steiner’s sweet vocal delivery and Sagan’s physical, almost-off-the-hinges guitar playing that lends each song a deeper sense of colour and movement.
Ratboys join Pet Symmetry and PWR BTTM for a handful of US shows this summer. All confirmed tour dates below.
